If you are one of the many people that suffer with back pain then you will know what little relief there is from this condition. Yes some medications can provide back pain relief in the short term, although none currently exist that remove pain completely. Pain relief is possible with the medications available but that is all they do and the reason for the pain continues. While there are a host of prescription medications that help with pain relief, many are doing nothing more than masking the symptoms instead of tackling the underlying cause of the pain.

The human body was fashioned together in an absolutely incredible way. We contain approximately 11 trillion cells, each interconnected and intimately functioning together. The central nervous system (brain, brain stem, and spinal cord) is connected to the peripheral nervous system (spinal and peripheral nerves) and controls the way we move and function. Our skull protects our brain and most of our brain stem, and our spine provides protection to the spinal cord and spinal nerves.

Degenerative Disk Disease - The degeneration of vertebral disks is a natural part of the aging process. What often happens though, is that when the narrowing of the disk space combines with the nociceptors, sensory receptors that respond to pain, in the outer annulus (in the disk space outside the nucleus) or dorsal root ganglion (spinal nerves) that become heightened, the result can be pain, although not always. Sometimes pain can be felt by some people, and other times not.
For example a minor accident like missing a step and landing a little harder than usual on your feet might cause back pain. And certain activities can aggravate degenerative disks, like yard work or house cleaning movements. But overall, pain associated with degenerative disk disease generally heals within a few days at most. Preventative measures like strengthening muscle groups to lessen future traumas are usually recommended along with an analgesic or medication that helps relieve pain. Only in some cases are epidurals or injections, blocks or surgery needed.
Back Pain Relief Some people silence their aching backs and pain with drugs but that's like removing the battery to quiet a smoke detector.
